Outdoor Water Restrictions In Effect

Outdoor water restrictions in effect

Mandatory restrictions limit outdoor watering

Calgarians are being asked to conserve water as the city moves into Stage 1 of its outdoor water restriction plan.

The restrictions, which came into effect Tuesday, limit outdoor watering to four hours per week, between the hours of 4-7 a.m. and 9-11 a.m. Residents are also being asked to avoid watering if there is rain in the forecast, and to start limiting outdoor watering to four hours a week.

The city is under a mandatory water advisory, which means that all residents and businesses are being asked to strictly limit their water usage. The restrictions are in place to help conserve water during the current drought conditions.

There are four stages of mandatory outdoor water restrictions, depending on the severity of the water shortage. Stage 1 is the least restrictive, and Stage 4 is the most restrictive. The city is currently in Stage 1, but could move to Stage 2 or higher if the drought conditions continue.

The restrictions are enforceable by the city, and violators could face fines. The city is also asking residents to report any violations they see.
