The Cincinnati Bengals have signed quarterback Joe Burrow to a five-year, $275 million contract extension, the largest contract in NFL history. The deal includes $219.01 million guaranteed and carries an average annual value of $55 million, the highest ever in the league.

"This is a great day for the Bengals and for Joe Burrow," said Bengals owner Mike Brown. "Joe is a special player and a great leader, and we are thrilled to have him as the face of our franchise for years to come."

Burrow, 26, has been a star since being drafted first overall by the Bengals in 2020. He led the team to its first Super Bowl appearance in over three decades in 2022 and was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year.

"I'm so grateful to the Bengals for believing in me," said Burrow. "I love this city and this team, and I'm excited to continue my career here."

The Bengals' investment in Burrow is a sign of the team's commitment to competing for a Super Bowl. The Bengals have made significant improvements to their roster in recent years, and they are poised to be a contender in 2023.
